I use loads of Kona cotton solids...I buy it by the bolt in colors I use most often, black, ocean blue, red, etc. Check out my quilts...I make lone star quilts. Address is below (webshots). I love marbles too and go through print phases...roses, chickens, polka dots, all colors of gingham, fish, cats, horses, stripes, fat quarters, 5 inch charms, feathers, birds, bears...you get the picture! I Love All Fabrics! LOL!

Magpie,
Just checked out your quilts. They are beautiful. Just one question: do you ever eat or sleep? How do you complete so many? Loved viewing your site.

I picked up a bolt of black Kona at Joann's one time, as I was looking for black. OMG, this stuff was so flimsy you could see right thru it. I quickly put it back. Is all Kona this way? I have stayed away from Kona ever since.

Konas are generally very nice solid fabrics. I stocked up the last time I went to Hancocks because they were such a good quality. Maybe for some reason JoAnns has a line of Konas that are a lighter weight so they can sell them cheaper?

One of my first quilting teachers taught me to never use a solid unless it is black. She explained that the tone on tone prints were made to replace solids and give your quilt character. I've tried to live by that rule too.

I really prefer to use solids, but they are not easy to find. I am still petty much a beginner, so I will probably "mature" into more patterns, but right now, having made 6 quilts, five of them were mainly solids. I just buy colors I like though. I guess I need to start looking at the brands.

I can count on one hand the number of times I've used solids!
When I have, though, I bought quilt shop quality fabric. I believe it was Kona.
