Let me add yet another "Amen" to what you've written!

Using grid paper, I mark out the quilt design and color it in with the desired colors. I then mark out the dimensions of each piece I will be using. As I am sewing, I write down any helpful tips I may have discovered as I am putting the quilt together. After the project is complete, I save all my notes and will refer back to them if I have questions about technique or sizing etc. I have found this helpful over the years, and have saved myself from repeating a mistake.

Thanks for the great idea! I'm going upstairs to my sewing room and put a steno pad on my shelf right now so I can start the New Year using this great tip!

My problem is even if I continue to work on a project straight thru, I still keep changing my mind. Good idea, but probably wouldn't work for me and my ever changing mind. Thanks for the tip.

I keep a 3 ring binder. I tend to draw and color my design and then write the math all over the back and sometimes extra papers. When I complete the project i put it in the binder. my resolution this year since i now have a digital camera is to take pictures and put them in too.

Sounds like a really good idea. I know because when I put away a project for a while, I couldn't even remember which pattern in the book I had been making. lol.
