i'm working on the omigosh quilt... if you don't want them, i'll take them...
i had no idea how many 1" strips were going to be in this thing! |
we met today, a bunch of us quilters, and one of the ladies is doing "crumb" blocks.. after she sewed all her little pieces together..she used a 5" sq ruler and went to town on them..they look so much cuter, cut on different angles, even the ones sewed into strips..i should of taken pictures!
she is the resident scrap lady..! so there is really no waste! |
First of all, I love your quilt inspector! And LOVE the quilt! Is there enough left over to make a piano-key border?

The pattern called for 2 Bali Pop packs (those aren't cheep).... but when i got done putting it together I had 28 10 1/2" sets of 3 strips sewn together, 8 strips not used and some 10" (and less) cuts from other strips. In my book, this much waste is unacceptable. I have enough strips to make 7 (yes 7) more rows, but nothing to make the boxes (cause they are made from near solids, and there aren't any more). I can't supplement and make more boxes because of how random everything is. Also, because of the way it is put together, I can't add to the ends (the rows that start with strips start with a smaller length of strip). Any ideas on how to use these extra strips so they dont go to waste? |
Use them for the boarder by sewing then into say 2 by 5" strips. Love them as boarders. Can make any width of strip and length.

Your quilt turned out very pretty. Save for another project or make the quilt bigger.

oh yummie I see a vest or jacket or bag or a very pretty tablerunner with some fall leafs appliqued on it... I'd have no problem I never have to many scraps or leftovers what ever you call them...as ling as I can get a 1.5 in sq out of them....
You will get a lot od subjestions here so we will be lookig to see what you did with them... Happy sewing and your quilt is turning out very nice. ConnieF |
Love the quilt, colors and pattern. Oh, and also your inspector. Maybe it's because he looks just like mine.
