I want to make a star quilt block sampler quilt. :) Which star blocks are your favorites? Which would you include?
Inquiring minds want to know! *Edited to add, I'm thinking of each block being 12" finished, but I could do a medallion in the center and then blocks around. :) |
Friendship star, Ohio star, floating star, double star (depending on block size)
|
It would be more the problem of deciding which ones I would not include as there'd be too many to choose from!!! :)
Traditional, Paper Pieced, Free Hand (I'm sure there's a proper name for that!) ... and anything in between. However, it'd depend on what sort of a look I'd want, that I might keep to one type or the other. The fabric would speak to me! |
Lemoyne star

Carpenter Star. I just put one in a sampler type quilt and it worked well. Ohio Star. My Friendship Star is done with 4 patches instead of solids in the center and corners. I like it, except I had to use strange colors (high school colors).

I am afraid I am not much help, I love them all.
|
I love all star blocks, but my favorites are Friendship, Ohio, Hunter and some of the spinning star blocks.
|
which spinning stars? Do you have links?

I picked 8 from here to make pillow covers. I picked a few that weren't too hard and worked my way up to difficult LOL
I will confess that pick #8 was abandoned in favor of a string star free-pieced! http://www.quilterscache.com/BlocksbySizeC.html |
there's a Carol Doak book of 50 stars---one for each of the 50 states- i would love to make a quilt with all of them!...one of these day's i might-
i would browse that book and add as many of them as i was (drawn to) and would fit. |
