I have the book. It's on my to do list after I finish my Dear Jane. The 6" blocks are going to be huge compared to what I'm used to! :)

I have done some of the blocks, but not in the color scheme I think I'm going for with the SBS.

Thanks so much!

The group is continuous. We're in the middle of a round, but you join at any time. We go in random order. When we finish all 140 blocks we start over again. If you've already done the block we're doing that week, you can submit any other block.

Thankfully, we take December off!

Over 6,000 blocks are already in our Webshots album (sylviasbridalsampler) and you can check out the beautiful color combos quilters have come up with.

Lynda, I have never seen such beautiful variety of blocks lik in your Sylvia's quilt! You did an awesome job....very talented. I'm not that far advanced yet....but maybe some day? lol....Thanks for sharing....

Ruth - thanks very much! I actually used the quilt as a learning tool. I was still a beginner when I started it and I tackled the easier blocks first and worked my way up to the more difficult ones. In some cases I took shortcuts, like eliminating Y seams by making a corner square into two corner triangles. Gradually my skills increased and I would say I'm at the intermediate level now.

It's easy to pick and choose with a large sampler like this. There are some applique blocks and we have quilters who have no interest in trying them, so they either skip them completely or substitute non-applique blocks. It's a lot of fun.

My local library has the book so I may begin borrowing it and get to making the blocks!

I checked and my library doesn't have it. I may try to buy the book used or trade another book for it.

I'm working on mine right now.

To (hopefully) keep myself from getting bored, I'm making myself do the blocks in the order they're shown on the quilt. No jumping ahead to the "easy" blocks! I think I'm on the 3rd block in the 2nd row.

The fabric I'm using is the Moda Pom Pom de Paris / French General line. Pinks, "faded" reds, and ivories. Pic below. :)

Oh! There appears to be a mistake in the book, on page 17, the Bachelor's Puzzle block. I made the "B" squares 2" as instructed, but they came out too small. 2-1/2" squares came out right.

Actually 2" is the correct measurement on that one. It's a 6" block and there are 4 B squares that make up the width of the block, so they are 1 1/2" finished, or 2" unfinished. I know it can be a bit fussy because it's a Y seam.

The errata for the book can be found at the publisher's site: http://www.ctpub.com/client/client_p...rata/10686.cfm

Hope this helps!

I bought the book and have made several blocks. I love it, but got sidetracked on other projects so it is in my UFOs. I hope to get it back out and work on it this winter. I really enjoyed making the blocks I have, some were more difficult than others, but nothing I couldn't do so far. I loved the quilt and the story about it in the book, so decided I was up for the challenge. I still am, just need to get back after it. Thanks for the gentle reminder.

I love the book even though I haven't started the 6" blocks. I use it whenever I need an idea for a quilt or project and draft the patterns to the size I want. Although the BOW sounds like fun and I might give that a try.
