How about an illusion with bold colors on a black background that make it look like it's floating. Storm at Sea would also be a good one. I agree with amber1957, take him shopping. He may even want to help make it. Or have him sit with you infront of the computer and check out the different patterns.

What yobro said! Or just ask him. Hand him a couple of quilt books and ask him to pick one out. I really like the Labyrinth Walk pattern too. I would just ask him. Seems to me if he never displayed any interest at all until he saw GD quilt, I would make him part of the process. Ask him his favorite colors and let him pick out the pattern.

Here's a free pattern that is a suggestion. While it is done in fireman print, you could have him select prints to work up in a modern look that he would like colors, prints of his choice....http://www.blankquilting.com/media/u...14_fKv5Vwc.pdf Good luck in whatever you decide. Be sure to show the end result once it's made.

What about a Trip Around the World - done in masculine colors? I created this one (3rd quilt in link) for my college nephew)

Boy quilts are hard. I made one of my sons a quilt using his school colors and chambry. When my de facto grandson graduated from high school, I made a QR quilt with his name and the name of his colllege and the year of his granduatio, in his school colors. (I was so excited when it really scanned!!!)

what about a pixel quilt if he is into gaming he might like one. Google mario quilt, zelda and you should get an idea of what they are. If you add the word images you will also get pictures of lots of them..i will see if i can add a linkhttp://cuttopieces.blogspot.com.au/2012/07/super-mario-brothers-quilt-along.html
I am just in the process of making my 25 tear old son one.

I wondered also, and since no one volunteered the answer, I googled it. It stands for Quick Response Code, and it looked like a bar code to me. There was a big group of quilts called QR code quilts to look at.

I love learning something new!
