Oh pish-posh, of course there is hope. I just went through the same thing last week and decided to take a little time and get my sewing room (sort of) organized. I found that I cannot work in the room when it is pristine but I also cannot work when it becomes a chaotic mess. Somewhere in the middle is fine with me.

Having to work around piles of stuff is not very efficient. Plus it can lead to accidental cuts into fabric or worse FINISHED BLOCKS. Ask me how I know!

I think a reasonably organized space helps keep the mind focused. So why don't you take some time and get organizing (even if you just make piles).

I'm right there with you. Right now I have an almost overwhelming desire to move things around my sewing room and get things organized. But I know there are some things in there that I really should take care of finishing first and I am having a hard time talking myself into doing it.

I'm still what I consider a "newbie." I have actually only 'finished' one quilt so far. Almost done with the second...just have the binding to do. Well, since I started the second one I have found so many patterns I want to do, so I have printed them out. I have bought all kinds of fabric...waiting on some to arrive from Connecting Threads right now. I got a new machine after Christmas, so I had to have a larger table and then rearranged the room so now I have space to move (sorta). So with that 'space' I have cut out squares and strips for a baby quilt -stacked on the corner of the table. I have half finished another quilt top and now I have this idea for a quilt running through my head (just won't quit-like a song that keeps playing over and over). So basically what I'm saying is that I am almost finished with one quilt, almost finished with a quilt top, have cut out another quilt top, and in the planning stages of yet another one. Is there a "therapy" thread on this board? Yikes, what have I gotten myself into! But, I am loving it.

Sorry......no known cure...you have the bug and will just have to stay here with the rest of us:D!!!!

Oh, I am so happy to have read all these comments. I went down to my sewing room today-to do a project, I thought.......just a simple no brainer grab a bunch of fabrics, cut strips, down to block size, sew up and there....I could not decide on what fabrics to pick......is that stupid.........wanted soft blues, lilac, greens.........sort of a watercolor look to it, and it was beginning to look like total chaos......finally after 2 hrs of trying, finally just said oh well here goes, grabbed the GO got the strip die out and began cutting strips.........now they are all draped on a rod down there, maybe tomorrow I will go and cut to sizes and try one or maybe I will not.......I am very melancholy.......lost my dh suddenly 6 months ago and just can't get into life again.....say a prayer for me.......thanks

Geri: so sorry to read of your lose. you can go sew a few lines and the next thing you know you will have a quilt, and one more in the works and two more running around in head. Just know that GOD is with you and you are in my prayers and in my heart. GOOD LUCK to you.

Someone suggested giving your sewing room a good cleaning when you're in a sewing slump, and boy did it work for me! Actually, I had to clean the whole house then, so sewing was put off for one more day. But I'm off the computer after this post and I'm going to start and finish a baby blankie today!
