This is usually how I fix things. "Just walk away" for a while. Glad it's working for you again.

If it is a non - computerised machine, check that you have the needle in the right way and pushed up as far as it will go.

I know we have little angles, mice etc. that will come rescue us when our machines are acting up. Saved again.
