There isn't a season for giving a loving, thoughtful gift. Children cherish their own possesions too.
I agree anytime is good for giving a quilt. It will be loved.
There is never a wrong time for a gift of love and self. Showing acceptance and welcome into the family is a warm and caring thing to do and you are special in wanting to do this for them. Huggggggs and smilesssss for youuu and congrats on the expanding family. There are never too many people to love and huggggs, kissess and smiles are infinite. You never run out no matter how many you give away!!!

A gift of love---temp never too hot.
I believe it is always quilt giving season!
With kids that age they would be "snugglies" and it is never too warm for those. Just be prepared that your gifts will be well used - and look like it.

If you dont sew clothing type things, how about buying hats from a dollar store, like a baseball cap or sometihng the kids wear and making a band/ribbon on them from some of the fabric in the quilt. sharet (I just say that cus I have to wear a hat in the sun or I'll pass out -lol, old people, sheez!)

It's never too warm to give a quilt. It can become a security blanket - like Linus - and they can sleep on top of it or under it. I have to sleep with something over me year round, and often sleep under my quilt in the summer when the A/C is on. What a kind and generous thing to do and they will cherish it forever, I'm sure.

I agree with all - quilts can be laid out on the floor for playing, snuggled with while watching TV, rolled up and used as a pillow, covering up with if an evening gets cold, laid on the grass (hope you won't mind if that happens) for stargazing, and so on and so on.
Definitely, positively give them now. To withhold them would be to withhold your love! |
Never, because quilts are great to give anytime! So give the little ones a quilt. :o)
you would never be silly for giving your gandkids a quilt. its the love in that quilt that counts not the temp.
Give them quilts. They can lay on top of them.
I agree with everyone on this topic. The quilts are going to be memorable reminders that they are being welcomed into the family. For sure, give them now.
I think no matter the season, a homemade quilt is always a welcomed gift.
anytime ....I make quilts and give year round...does not matter...
What a wonderful thoughtful thing to do. Your gift is from your heart and will be appreciated by them.
Start stitchin. Quilts will comforts the kids no matter what the season. I know they will be thankful and a feeling of belonging.
Give them, they can sleep on them until it's cold enough to sleep under them.
I live in South Florida and I give quilts anytime of the year... They will love it.
I live in Tucson AZ. I take the comforter off my bed from April until Oct. I leave a quilt on there. Don't make it with super heavy material, but I much prefer having a lightweight quilt on my bed rather than the comforter.
Give them the quilts! There is NEVER a time when giving a quilt is not appropriate, regardless of the weather. It is quite warm where we live just now and we're still sleeping under our quilts for at least part of the night. Go for it!
Nothing says I care about you like a quilt. It is alway a good time to give a gift made with love.
BE generous lol and give them one each now and one for Christmas. I don't think there is any season that isn't a quilt season. It's the thought and love behind it, not the weather. The children will love them I'm sure and the quilts may make them feel like they really belong more. Go For it.
I shouldn't worry - I live in one of the driest hottest countries in the world and sleep under my quilt all year round. If they are lined with wool they are good insulators in any weather. Glad to hear you have a nice purpose for making and giving.
Oh, quilts are for anytime. They will love & appreciate them so much. I sleep with one because I am always cold.
oh mercy..quilts are for hugging too, not just for covers! MAKE those quilts!
You are giving love, which sometimes translates into warmth, also. Kids love their very own quilts. They are good for forts, swiming blankets, cuddles for sleeping. Sometimes they are used for warmth of the body, not of the heart. Go for it.
you might use a thinner batting in the quilt.
Quilts are for any time. Know they will love them.
It is always quilt-giving season!
Anytime is a good time for a quilt. :)

Get stitchin, girlfriend! |
Quilts can be given anytime. My Grandma gave me a quilt when I was small and I used it for forts over a card table and it went everywhere with me. Glenn

I recently made a quilt for my 18 y.o. granddaughter who has now gone overseas to Cambodia for a few years doing volunteer work. She made the request, as she wanted something to remind her of home. The temp there is always in the 30 - 40 deg celcius. She turns the fan on full blast so that she can use it!!

Problem is, the weather here will be hitting 90-100 degrees soon. Probably won't be much of a need for quilts to stay warm! (Duh). Would it be silly to give them to the children now or should I wait until cooler weather? Don't want to look like I'm just a silly ol' grandma, but would like to help them out. Guess after all this, my question is.....is there a quilt giving season? |
Well if it is too hot to lay under it, it is always great to lay on top of it. Now with the airconditioning, I use quilts year around. I would say give it.
not at all, things always cool down at night and am sure in a heatwave they will be so very plsed.
I agree with everyone else - give the quilts now.
It's all in the presentation
Give it with love and tell them it is for dreaming on top of as well as snuggled under |
I made my grandson in North Carolina a quilt for napping and I used cotton knit fabric ( I call it T-shirt knit) instead of batting.
