It is a bargello quilt. The pattern was included with the EQ5 (Electric Quilt version 5) software.

Hi, I'm an art quilter and like to do surface design techniques on my fabrics. I have a small group who enjoys experimenting with dye painting, foil, beach and anything else we can find. We get some interesting results. I'm hoping to figure out the way to put up some photos soon. Moosegirl

I have to say I am one of those quilters that LOVE the so called Art Quilts. For me the wilder and colorful, the better. The first quilts I did were the traditional designs, blocks, sashing and edging. Now that I have found the more contemporary designs, i.e. paper piecing, I am hooked.
If anyone has any wild and crazy designs/patterns let me know. I am always looking out for something new to try.

Your quilt blocks are really cool, I like the 3D effects.
Welcome.

Welcome Winnona,
I am just beginning to explore the art quilting form. I've made a mini landscape and loved the results. I made an attempt to create bark on the trees and I think it worked well.

Boston1954 and ghostrider, I'm not sure who you're asking what, but if you ask me, your quilts are art! very different kinds of art, but definitely art.

ghostrider, yours is a great example of what I mean by traditional patterns can look very contemporary. Tumbling Blocks is my absolutely favorite block. I just love your variation of it!

Boston, yours are pure fun! Will you do one for every state? Can you do one for Pennsylvania?

I do tradition blocks myself. I keep learning new blocks so I haven't really thought of trying anything else. Keep up the great work. You diffently have a flair for what you are doing.

Art Quilts it is for me! I love to make them as I am very abstract. I like to look at the traditional ones but don't have the patience to make them. I have made three quilts. Two completely made up as I went and the other was a pattern and I did it my way. Lots of fun! Welcome. GiGi

I love your quilt. I don't thing you should put yourself in any one type or catagory. Make what want to make some people can do both, I think it depends on how you want to use the quilt when you are finished with it. Do you want it to be on a wall and just looked at or do you want someone to wrap it around themself and feel the love that you have for them when you made it. And whos to say that you can't have a little of both in the same quilt.

Your blocks are great and really bring back memories of when my son was little (he's 27 now). Thank you so much for sharing all the way from Germany. Way cool!

I adore your blocks. Your use of fabrics is fantastic.

Mostly, I would say I am traditional, but I do some I feel are contempory. I want to do a watercolor landscape, but keep putting it off.

while I lean towards traditional, I love appliqued blocks, samplers, and round robin type quilts so much...so I am gonna say, both!
I love to see pictures, landscapes on quilts.
I am big on florals and lots and lots of color. :D
