knock yourself out. It sounds great to me . I wish I had those choices.

If you need more room for sewing than sleeping, then I say DO IT!

If at some point in my life I had to go into a small apartment--I would have the living room my quilting place. A small loveseat for company. This would be if DH passed away before me.

Go for it! Use the master as your sewing room! You'll love the space!

Go for it! You need to use the space you have for what's best for you!

I thought of doing the same thing to our living room. We never use it (except to lay quilts on the floor to pin baste). Only strangers come to the front door. Everyone else uses the back door. it's a pretty room with lots of light but I just can't bring myself to do it for some reason.

The important consideration is for you to be comfortable in your home and that your home is a sanctuary after a busy day. Fix your house so that it is what you want your house to be. My husband and I have the quilting frame in our living room (we spend most of our time in the family room). We have wonderful indirect lighting above the frame that gives me the lighting that I need when quilting.
When people come in our front door, the first thing they can see is the quilting frame and then the couch, tv, and propane stove. No one has said anything about it and if they did, I would just shrug off their comments. I have my sewing room with my electric sewing machines in one of the bedrooms and I have my treadle machine in the family room. This works for us and we are very happy with it. You should fix your home the way that makes you comfortable. |

I did that several years ago. My master bedroom was 16 x 20, two closets and a bathroom, with an 8 foot sliding door to a patio. The light was wonderful for quilting. I never regretted my decision. You will love it!

I agree that it sounds like a great idea....it works best for you. My elderly mom with problems lives with us and we have a hospital bed, wheelchair, etc. in the living room because we don't want to keep her in a lonely room...this way she is in the room that we are in a lot. Works for us.
