both have IDT. As far as I know the IDT started with the 1200 series. You need to join the Yahoo group, "old Pfaff Pforum" The people there know lots more than I do. #1 is all mechanical, weighs a ton and is a great machine, has 8" of throat space. I love quilting with it and piecing too. Made in 1976-85. It takes a bit of figuring out how to make it do the decorative stitches. I've owned this machine for about 3 years and only been using it for 2. #2(2040) is computerized and has IDT, made in Germany. I just bought this one on Friday, 1/8/11. So I've not even begun to figure it out yet. So far I like it. Made in 2002. Sharon W. |
I have a Singer 4830, Janome Serger, Babylock Serger, Brother Embroidery Innovis 1500 and a recently purchased Brother Wizard (Japanese version of Singer 15). I had my Singer about 13yrs. She has many many miles of sewing.

I have 3 sewing machines:
One is an older workhorse Sears Kenmore Machine flat bed with cams, its a super high shank 158-17032 machine that I got in 1973 as a requested present. My 2nd Kenmore is a free arm, low shank machine, 148-15600 with no cams, but still has several stitch choices to easily set the machine to. These are heavy machines with metal bobbins but have lasted me all these years. Neither one has a carry handle on it on the actual machine. I have the original covers or cases and instruction booklets from each one. My latest and greatest machine is my new electronic Brother 950D embroidery and sewing machine. It worked great, tons of choices of decorative stitches and built in embroidery decorations. It also has 6 different font selections for personalizing on most fabric cloth items. The needle can also move from left to center to right positions to be able to use all kinds of low shank presser feet. Love the auto needle threader and cutter, and needle up down position. I use this machine the most. From, Debbie, Phoenix, AZ |
In addition to my two Pfaffs(1222E & 2040),
I have a Bernina 1031(bought new in 1992),I use 3 Singer treadles: 15-90,201 and 237. Three Singer featherweights: 1951 centennial model,1957(same age as me!),tan 1961. Husqvarna Viking Sapphire 875,Janome Jem Gold 2. All of my machines get used at some point |
