I've made purses, larger bags, throws, and lots of cushion covers. Best things in the world for rec rooms.

I buy a lot of jean dresses and skirts at goodwill the cashier thought I did pretty good getting six dresses all in my size half price then laughed when I told her it was the backing for my quilts. Also bought a lot of homespun material to use with the jeans I have a lg container with all children jeans bought at yard sales for 25cent to make a couple of children ones with all the designs on the jeans

Yes, I have made 5 so far and I have 4 more to go. I am making them for my other grandchildren. I have used all parts of the blue jeans, pockets, front and back and one large block I put muslin on the front of a jean with the zipper so they can use it as a pocket for their p j's. I have used heavy batting and flannel backing. I have tied them with embrodary floss, 6 strands. They are very heavy but they have been washed in the home washer. There is no pattern to the blocks. Almost like maybe a crazy quilt. The DG all love them. They younger ones are waiting patiently.

so many things can be madr with old jeans I have made a jacket and a vest there is a lady in South Dakota called the junk jeans lady she makes all kinds of things with them
her site is www.junkjeanspeople.com she has some very interesting books and patterns |
Yes, I have used Jeans for a quilt...mixed with flannel plaids...have one just about done and plans to make at least 2 more. I also added photos as the quilt is a memory quilt...photo's are appliqued onto the jeans. It is a quilt for my youngest son from his dad's jeans and shirts. When it is done, will make one for my oldest son, and one for myself. Depending on what I have left after that, may also make quilts for my husband's siblings.

My friend has been doing blue jean quilts for years. Check out her website at http://www.recycledblues.com

I was given about six garbage bags of jeans from a friend, she got some from another friend who had gotten them from another friend.....each person adding their own to the pile until it grew this big. Each person deciding not to do the rug or quilt they thought they would.
I was kind of cooling to the idea myself, but cutting them into strips, what a great idea. I have such a variety of colors that it could be like one of those speed pieced strip quilts..... the wheels are turning. |
