Good idea about not just using colors as some children cannot differentiate between with color deficiencies.

I can't imagine anyone being offended by Sunbonnet Sue & Sam as the whole point of the signs is to differentiate between girls and boys, right? If the restroom is not able to be gender neutral (one person use) then you have no choice. And any other sign is a simple representation of girl or boy.

Personally, I don't like using pink/blue or skirt/pants to signify female and male - I'm a girl that never wears a skirt, and wears far more blue than pink, so these never made sense to me. If there is a lot of political correctness in this organization, they probably wouldn't approve of those gender indicators either.

One of the signs had a circle (like a lifesaver) and two candy cane shapes, feet spaced apart and narrow at top for girls, feet together and wider "shoulders" for boys. I thought it was cute. Don't understand the "peeping" ones, very inappropriate, and I am usually very open minded!
