When giving a quilt as a gift do you give washing instructions? If so what do you put on it..??
I just tell people to wash it in a front load washer on delicate and warm and then dry it in the dryer. That is what I do with all of mine and they seem to be holding up rather well.
Ditto to the above and I also give them a couple of color catcher sheets especially if I've used strong colors, just to be on the safe side.
nope i only give my quilts with love once it is out of my hands it is there's to do with what they wish. I would love them to use it to death. If they ask i would tell them.
I wash all my quilts before gifting.
Usually I write: "This quilt is all cotton and can be washed in a regular washer with warm (not hot) water, regular detergent, spun dry, and damp dried in your dryer. I usually drape mine over the back of the sofa, or some other place, to finish drying. It is made with love and meant to be used and loved; if it needs repair, call me; enjoy!" Jan in VA |
if I was going to sell a quilt I would.
when I give someone a quilt I don't. I don't put anything in my quilts that requires special handling-just normal care. |
I will tell them how to wash it. My grandmother was happy to hear she could actuallly wash the quilt I had to laugh at that. It think it gives the recipent a sense of "ok I can use the quilt" She now uses them more.
I generally put washing instructions on the label (back), paricularly with charity quilts.
i include care instructions on my label...
name of quilt, made by, city, state, date; any pattern used or other pertinent info and care instructions/fiber content... example: quilt top 100% cotton hobbs 80-20 blend batting backing poly fleece machine wash cold on gentle cycle, tumble dry medium heat. or... 100% cotton fabrics, batting, thread machine wash cold, gentle- tumble dry low or hang to dry. what ever the case may be, but any quilt i am parting with have instuctions and fiber content included on the label |
I just tell them. Wash on gentle w/ cold and dry on low or hang.
