How awkward! But if your DD is ok it,then there's no problem, if she's unhappy with it, then an important lesson learned--unfortunatey! It does seem kind of incredible that the friend she did his for is also a quilter.

I learned the hard way too. I don't do favors anymore........
|
I learned a long time ago that other people didn't value MY time as much as I do, so I just politely say, "no" and leave it at that when I don't want to make something that somebody "would love to have"
|
If and when I agree to make something for somebody I tell them that I have no idea how soon I would be able to finish it - I have projects still incomplete that were started 5-6 years ago! If they want it this decade they need to find someone else to do it. Lol!

If it's a quid pro quo in other things besides quilting --
I'd do stuff for my daughter's skating coach as she would give extra in a lesson at no charge to me, pick up my kid from school to go to the rink if I couldn't. It doesn't have to be a quilt. Soccer moms might run into the same type of arrangement. |
That makes me so mad. I can't stand people who take advantage of others. Especially a young woman with small children and one on the way! Mabe the next time she "ask" her to do something for nothing your daughter can tell her that the last time she didn't even break even. Then tell her NO.
