Think the pattern was called rail-fence.

You could also treat the blocks like a jellyroll pack. Maybe shorten a few strips every now and then. Whatever you decide, let us know what you ended up with. :cool:

this is the one I thought of too. It could be a big rail fence block. I love strip quilting. smile.

I took a class where we used a rectangle followed by a square about 1//3 of the width until we got to the end of the row. Next row we started out with the square followed by the rectangle and continued on until the quilt was done.

depending on how creative you feel, you could try making something similar to HSTs but using those rectangles. Might make an interesting block.

The rail fence turned out super-fun and I look forward to putting a border on it soon.

Next I think I'll work on a subway tile! Need to cut some bits for the end-caps...
