Kaye Wood calls them 'Quarter Quilts' and she has several patterns for them.

I like them with a plain bedspread. I plan on changing them with the seasons, but of course, that's only the PLAN LOL
IMO, only for decoration? Maybe, but I'm worth it!
We have a king sized bed, and making a runner seems much more achievable that a king sized quilt

I call them "foot warmers". My hubby was a letter-carrier(retired now) and I made him one. Made it big enough so that it drapes over the end of the bed. It is just a little something extra to keep the feet warm...plus it's kinda cute.

Very nice for a quick project. They would be great as gifts.

Love the look...just went onto bookshelf...and pulled off my Toppers book...and Toppers 2 to go through...would be a fun quicker project!

I live in Saskatchewan, Canada & I just use the same blanket summer & winter, but in winter I like to use another blanket over my feet. So I've been thinking of making me a Bed Runner.

i use them because i'm dieabetic and my feet are cold even in the summer due to poor circulation and nerve damage. Their a little haveier than a sheet and not as haevy as a full size quilt.....please excuse my poor spelling

Besides the fact that they are decorative, I use them to add extra warmth to my legs when it is damp or cold. I don't like lots of covers but in certain weather my legs hurt very badly and the cover over them helps to ease the pain. (plus it gives my Shih tzu something to snuggle under)

Could call em feet warmers!

Called bed shawls or foot warmers. I like them cause they "pretty up" the bed. You see them a lot in hotels now. Made some and WANT to make some "seasonal" ones (Christmas, spring, summer, etc) to change the look of the bedroom. Made my sister (who lives at the beach) one with a beach scene and the "fat-fruit gals" on it and backed it with a pretty yellow/blue (sis's fav colors) so she can just turn it over.
