Hi,
I went to a demonstration on paper piecing and a discussion about embellishments on quilts. Very informative! Weather was fantastic, in the 70's, and for northern MN in March, that is unreal! Had a shamrock shake at McDonalds after our demo and visited out LQS. Fun day! Bev |
For National Quilting Day ...I completed block "B" for my Labyrinth Walk wall hanging
Also watched NCAA basketball.... Go Purdue... Judy in Phx, AZ |
Pieced more parts for my Orca Bay quilt by Bonnie Hunter.

I have my 2 year old dgs! OMgoodness is he smart! I thought his daddy was smart!
Mason was in his new swing...I said keep your feet up or they will get torn off! He said well, gramma they will be broken then! He spilled some apple juice on the floor and I said what is this? He said in a very deep voice (for a 2 year old) I believe that is my fault! We have laughed for the entire week! Gramma I am too big to do that...it means I am NOT small enough!! I know you had to be there, but this is what I did! And watched a few minutes of the free shows on Quilting network! |
Had great plans to get a lot done. Only partly finished one thing. The whole day was a comedie of errors (on my part) I am learning to applique, Only needed to add 3 small birds to my wall hanging and add a small quote in the center shouldn't take more than a couple of hours, right? Wrong!! those darn birds were more trouble than they were worth!!! All 3 had to be removed at least twice, thread breaking, and or tangeling, wrong angel on the perch, frayed edge, had to cut out new birds for 2 of them. I honestly thought about leaving the birds off but 3 birdhouses with 3 perches in a flower garden and a large blank space for writting, ya it really needed the birds. For the saying in the center I was planning on "Sew Tweet" but after fighting with those birds all day I think it will be"HERE KITTY KITTY" LOL I did learn one thing after all the hassel. DO NOT APPLIQUE BIRDS AGAIN!! LOL

I was so happy to go to the National Quilting Day get together at my guild, CAMEO, and worked on piecing together strips for a Tradewinds top. Had lots of fantastic help from Willie Pfeiffer in getting my 1/4" seams accurate. Just HAD to cut some of the triangles after sewing together the strips, only to realize when I got home I had cut them incorrectly! That's what you get when you are so antsy to make it happen that you don't triple check what you have to do! However, I now have pieces to make TWO different size hexagonal table toppers, LOL! And am now trying to figure out how to cut the correct size triangles for the pattern squares. Had lots of fun & really enjoyed it. Thanks CAMEO ladies!
