You can find lower greige broadcloth that is like quilter's cotton feel. It is mainly printed color not woven but lots of quilter's cottons are too. I have gotten some from Marshall Dry Goods at good prices and it's a wider fabric than 45".

Thank you!!!
I always wondered about what the difference was and was afraid to ask a dumb question. :XD: |
I got a wonderful cut of cotton broadcloth from fabric.com for backing for my King size quilt. It's a wonderful fabric!!
Mine is very soft, I'd say medium weight, but not flimsy. Just love it! |
i think the biggest difference is the weight, broadcloth is a heavier weight cotton fabric. i have used broadcloth on backs of quilts but have not found any i needed in a quilt top

[quote=Twilliebee]Most LQS carry a good quality cotton broadcloth. Comes in solid colours and is comparable in quality (and price!) to any good quilting cotton. The Kona solids are considered high quality 100% cotton broadcloth at my LQS.
Most fabric stores also stock an inexpensive poly/cotton blend broadcloth for all sorts of general usage. It's usually just $1 or so a yard. Here's more info, for those of us who just can't get enough: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Broadcloth This is interesting: http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-broadcloth.htm Guess there are fabrics we refer to as broadcloth that really aren't in the classic sense of the word. Thanks for the interesting sites! |
