I AM SURE THAT IF YOU REQUESTED, YOU MIGHT BE ABLE TO GET SOME CRUMBS FROM SOME OF OUR MEMBERS HERE SO THAT OUR GIs WOULD CONTINUE TO GET WARMTH FROM YOUR LABOR OF LOVE.

Oh, a better explaination of scraps is in need. You can't phsyically sew anything less then 3/4" you know, the 1/4" seams all around and that's being pretty generous because my 1/4" seams might be a hair bigger, so anything less then about 1" goes into the scrap bag for pet bedding.

The lady who makes the beds sorts through all the scraps she receives , trims up the pieces and sorts them by size and color and shares with the scrappy sewers in her area all the pieces that are not really bedding material. So it doesn't go to waste.

And I'm happy because they are not at my house making me feel guilty that I'm cutting my yardage to make a quilt when my scrap bag is so full.

Occassionaly I put a note on my freecycle group saying come take my scraps. then I feel so free because it's all gone and I didn't throw it away.

Now I read all of these newsletter, but some how missed understanding what a "crumb block " is. Can someone enlighten me, I assume that it's a good use for fabric scraps. Thank you in advance.

Back on page 3, I posted an explaination and several photos. If you have a slow computer it may take awhile for the photos to pop up.

Bonnie of Quiltville.com has a nice tutorial. http://www.quiltville.com/crumbs.shtml

I call that a person who enjoys her art of playing with material. Think of how you are helping so many others. I make blocks and provide children the instructions and how they can use them and make other things. One little girl made her barbie doll a pillow and a small quilt. She was 6. They went on to show other children how to do this and after 3 yrs are still doing surprising gifts with what they learned.
