I bought the cutting table at Joann's and I really like it. I wish I would have bought it sooner. My back used to hurt using my dining room table. Use a coupon or when on sale though.

Hubby made me a cutting table that is 20"x42" with 2 drops leaves . Opened it is 72"x42" and he made it a counter height
of 35". It is wonderful and a perfect height. Don't open it fully too often, usually have it at opened to 42"x46" and leave it that way ......... until it's time to vacuum under it..... |
I have one of "those" tables from Joanns but I find it very wiggly to cut on (it even makes me dizzy). I use a cafeteria style table, you know the ones that are 5 feet long. If I need it higher I just put some plastic piping(PVC) on each leg that I cut to the right heighth and it works great.(you can get it at home depot, etc.)

My DH took those wire baskets from Home Depot and built it up to the right height and put a top on it so now I have all kinds of storage and a cutting table too. It took 6 sets of the baskets.

I use an old wooden table that I put up on 6" bed risers that I got from bed bath and beyond and it's perfect.
|
I bought a table from Staples with folding legs on it and bought bed risers (which are inexpensive) to put under it. Iam 5'10" and it is just right for me.
|
Taped cutting mat to top of freezer. Just the right height for this short person to cut out pieces on.
|
I use the tops of my washer and dryer.
|
use soup cans under table legs makes it right height

I found that using my kitchen table with an adjustable office chair works just great. Since the office chair has real good back support and casters, I can just scoot around the table using it and make my cuts easily.
