I really like this. Imagine it with cabbage roses and polka dots, shabby chic all the way.

I'm working on a baby blanket now with a gathered strip, and I'm finding it's not as easy as I thought it would be. I'm using a technique where you sew a zig zag over a thicker thread (I'm using perle cotton), which you then use to pull the gather. If you use just regular thread and it breaks part way through the gathering process, you are dead in the water, so to speak.

I agree with Rhonda K about using a tube so the edges are finished. I will keep that in mind for future use, although I don't see much more gathering in my future ;)
