Sometimes you can't see them, only hear them in your head. NEVER listen to the voices in your head. Unless they tell you to buy more stuff for your quilting addiction.

It isn't a look. It is a boatload of bad attitude with some arrogance thrown in...lol. Ignore them at all costs!

Oh, no! I do that because I want to see the beautiful technique and cannot see fine details with my #@%& bifocals. I swear I am NOT undercover (unless I am the Manchurian quilt police)??

The QPOfficer I ran across is very slim, perfectly coiffed, has impeccable make-up, expensive clothing and can afford to purchase all the 'right stuff'. Has NO imagination, NO sense of quilting history, and was NOT taught by dear older quilters passing on the wisdom of generations, only expensive experts.

I'm afraid it may be me when looking at my own work. I am very critical of my efforts and can spot my mistakes at 100 paces after the fact.

I used to run into them on juries at craft shops. Mind you, they were NOT quilters - just thought they knew what quilts should look like.
Mine are not the rotary cut, perfectly pieced, 3 matching fabrics type - more like folk art. Maybe all the strips in my Log Cabin block are not the same width, but it is sewn well with no major puckers. Going for an old-fashioned, scrappy look. But they wanted mine to "conform".

I always wanted to say, look at the pottery you have in the shop - some has smooth finishes, some has rough finishes. There are as many ways of making a craft as there are crafters.

Funny thing, though, my quilts sold quite well.

they aren't hard to spot, they are the ones that tell you how to do something but you find out they have never done it. they tell you all the wrong things you did but remember, there are no quilt police just busy bodies, not everyone makes a quilt the same. it would be such a boring world if we did. enjoy the process and expand your knowledge by trying new things

In my town the quilting cops live and work at our local quilt shop where you bring your quilt to be machine long arm quilted. They seem to always have a comment on what I have done WRONG! I just smile and say..Thank You...In my world my quilting "wrongs" are just mistakes I did on purpose. (as if I did not know they were there..most of the time) I know there are somethings to do the right way,... but....and it is a BIG BUTT..opps I mean but, there is a place to tell and also how to tell and some people just do not understand the difference.
