After attending a retreat with some friends we all had issues of back and neck pain and spasms. We figured out that being able to sit higher made all the difference with our muscles. Last time I used a boat cushion and that worked well because it didnt squash down like other cushions. It raised me up about 3" and was perfect for me.

When I sew away from home, I always take some chair cushions with me as I find most places the tables and chairs are totally wrong!! If the chairs are stackable, I'll often put two together to sit on ... works perfectly for height and comfort.

I've only been to one location that had some consideration for their customers sewing comfort ...... risers under the cutting/work tables, plus adjustable office chairs!

i use a previous tip from this board in which it was suggested using rubber door stops to tilt sewing machine forward....WOW.,.WHAT A DIFFERENCE!!!

Being short I have to have a office chair with the lift.
Its a must as even with a set in machine my table is to high.
Even my cutting table is to high and have to use a small wooden step stool.

Wow and wow! thanks for providing such clear and easy-to-follow instructions, suggestions and links. My husband's saw will be busy for a few days to get things set up correctly for me. :-D
