What did you learn?

well,, I learned what a stop border was...
what a D9P/D4P is
and,,,not to tick anyone off, or be what they think is inconsidereate in chat!( do not put colors to your text,,,as this makes some,, VERY unhappy,) :(

I've been busy and away from the board so didn't see the original "colors to your text" but, as for me and my eyes, there are colors that make it difficult for me to read.

I learn something new everyday.

I learned if you're going to use flannel as a binding that you should starch it heavily before you cut it to help prevent stretching.
I learned the recipe to make my own starch. What a block butler is, and what a stop border is.

what i have learned is not so much quilting but if your hubby is up with the kids you have to keep telling him to feed the kids if they are getting fussy because it is past their breakfast time. (I asked him to try and put ds back to sleep at 5:30 after I had been trying for 30 min. for the third time. I got up because of crying around 7 to tell him to feed the baby. )

I learned ( again) that it's still funny to see the look on my sweet husbands' face when I ask him if he wants a ripe ( brown ) banana.... LOL!!!!

What's a stop border?

A stop border is just a narrow inner border that is placed between the body of the quilt and a wider outer border. It's also what me and dkabasketlady called "framing the quilt" :)

OK. I've heard it called a "flange" and a "floating piping", but stop border was new to me. I have used this on several quilts and love the look of it.

So, that's what I've learned today. Thanks.

I learned that the next quilt I plan on making, will not try to hand quilt it. Those batiks are kind of hard on the fingers to hand quilt.
