That works! My son has a 3D printer that has large plastic spools. I use them to hold scrappy binding. I have one for batiks, one for off white batiks and one for kaffe. I will sometimes purchase a jelly roll when I am getting low on any particular set.

I don't make binding in advance, just make what I need for each quilt as I make the quilt. The binding for my current project is wrapped around the Diet Pepsi bottle I emptied while I was sewing the binding together. https://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images/smilies/smile.png

I used to puddle off to the side but I started wrapping around an old spool and was surprised how easy and better it was. Bit of a pain to wrap around the spool but nothing is perfect.

Does anyone have any other suggestions for the long empty tubes? |
