I love my quilting room. It is truly me!! Sometimes it is organized but sometimes it is a mess but both are okay. It reflects the things that are important to me (family, friends, etc.) It is also a place I can leave a mess turn off the light and go to bed and come back to the mess later.

Oh yeah, I have a "woman -cave" as many of the DH's friends like to call it. It's in the lower level of our rambler home--newly built about 5 years ago. I have the puter, my nursing textbooks--as I am a full-time student as well as an avid quilter. All my quilting fabrics, machines and supplies. And to make it more like "home" I've added a comfy sofa (in front of the library of books I own) and a flat screen TV, and nice shelf stereo system. All that and a DVD/VCR combo. There isn't much I'm missing and I spend most of my days in here!

But I always love to hear how some of you have made your quilting rooms like your personal sanctuary and a place you love to be. I was curious what some you have added to or have done to your rooms that make them such a special place?

It is all mine. Every stray pin, unraveled spool of thread, every wrinkled pattern and magazine and all the fabric draped across the LA that might match the quilt I am currently putting together. It is where my heart is.

This sounds like I could have written it!!

I could stay in here for hours and hours....in fact, I do!

I love my sewing room. I put WHATEVER I want in there. The special place is a bundle of clean clothes on the floor where my GD can take her nap while I sew. I told her a long time ago to lie down and listen to my sewing machine as it hums. It worked then, and I love it! My quilting frame is a different story. It will only fit in my large living room/dining room/kitchen. It is not in the way, but I can look out the doors and watch geese, ducks and other wildlife. I couldn't be happier!

Mine is special ... because it's all MINE ... my getaway !
After years of working in a corner of the BR or on the dining room table, it's great to have my OWN space. I don't have to stop and put things away ! I have my music, my design wall, good lighting and all my stuff in one place, finally ! The only thing I'm lacking is space for a comfy chair but that's ok, I'd probably nap instead of sewing ! :)

When we bought our house my sewing room was a hot tub room. We had it renovated into exactly what I wanted. I have windows on two sides that give me lots of natural light, but no wall space. I'd rather have the light. I can also see all the wild life that roams through our yard this way. I love it. The other two walls have floor to ceiling built-in cupboards with doors. My sewing machine is in the corner so I can see the birds at the bird feeders while I sew. I have a sliding glass door out to the deck that I can open in the summer. My cutting table is our very first piece of furniture we bought when we were first married. It is the perfect size for the large Olfa cutting mat. My mother's old rocking chair sits in the corner. I have a TV in one corner and a CD player on my chest of drawers that I use to listen to books on tape. I also have a gravity feed iron that I love. My sewing room is where I go to relax from the stress of work. My doctor diagnosed me with high blood pressure. I have been taking my blood pressue several times a day. I find I can lower my blood pressue by 20 points by spending just a half hour in my sewing room. I can't imagine my life without this room.

I have a nice big room, formerly the Florida room, but have to figure out a way to heat it up in the coldest weather. I'm sure I will have it figured out before next winter arrives!

We have an upstairs laundry room with beautiful real wood paneling. I set up a desk with my sewing machine across from the washer/dryer & on the wall between I set up my cutting table. There is also a closet which is open where I am putting my fabrics so I can admire them when I am sewing. I didn't think I would like it but I absolutely love it now plus laundry is always caught up!!

it is my own domain, if it is messy, I close the door...I have an old recliner that I can relax and "just think" in, It has 3 windows bringing in all the afternoon sun and it relaxes me...
