Kind of looks like a snowball quilt to me.

I'm going to say it's called the 'hummingbird' one patch block just repeated. It is a very old block

I would call it the hummingbird block. I think that one of the early Fons and Porter "Sew Many Quilts" magazines has the instructions.

it is a periwinkle star. has snowballs, too. is this the one you are talking about?

see periwinkle star. evidently there is more than one name for the block. my Mother loved the periwinkle star.

Kathy I do believe that's IT! The octagon's between the kites!!!! It is an old quilt pattern and now I can order the templates to make this. Thank-you so MUCH! Those are definitely octagons between the kites to my eye in Jenny's quilt.

I just typed "periwinkle star template" in google and came up with a host of sites that should give you what you need. Good Luck!

Eleanor Burns has this pattern, if i remember correctly it is a seconday pattern
Good Luck it is similar to her quilt "Kylies Kite" using her 4 1/2 on point template in the autumn leave pattern it is a secondary pattern http://www.quiltinaday.com/shoponlin...ay.asp?i=30067 Blessed be mickey |
The quilt is an antique quilt from her personal collection. She is working on a tutorial for a similar quilt. It will be in the next magazine. She is also using a Baby Lock machine and she loves it!!!!
