Thanks, Eddie. My husband is a CW expert. He was never interested in having a quilt of his own until I discovered CW repros. He got very interested then. I'm going to put this one in a quilt show next month.

JUMPING JUDY, I have the Farmer's Wife Sampler book and want to start it but don't know where to purchase the fabric. Where did you purchase your fabric and did you use a certain colorway? Thanks a million!

In 09, I purchased a batch of FQs from Pat's Fat Quarters on eBay. She was very prompt in shipping & very pleasant to deal with. The CW repros I bought are Old Strubridge in reds. She has Auctions & Buy It Now, so maybe the ones of you who are looking for CW fabrics can find something you like there. Happy Shopping & Happy Quilting days ahead. Spring is here in Alabama.

All of you that have graciously shared pics of your quilts, Thanks so much! I love all of them! CW is one of my favorite fabrics. Bonnie Blue always has 2 booths set up at the Houston Quilt Show and the booths are just fantastic! It is a booth I spend a lg part of my money at ea. year just because her fabrics & kits are so nice. I have the Glory Bound kit that is shown in this topic, just need the time to get it done. CW Quilts are really just beautiful.
You can choose your favorite blocks from that era, do it in your fav. fabrics and have a gorgeous quilt. Even 1 block done in various fabrics is gorgeous. |
Ditto for me...

I heard that EQ has or will soon have the software program. I was disappointed with the template pdfs included with the book and my printer is doing overtime with the Sentimental Stitches blocks and Jane STickle software...I'll have to put this on hold for a bit, I think.

Obviously, it will be a scrappy quilt and I do want a very old fashioned look, like an 1800's quilt. Anyone have some links to some old quilt pictures and/or patterns? I bought a book called Small Blocks, Stunning Quilts that is all about the tiny blocks in antique quilts but I'm not sure I am hooked on any of the patterns yet. |
Here is a link to a Civil War Cot Quilt. Pretty simple and could be chain pieced. This is a quilt I am making right now using 6" repro squares.
Good luck with your quilt. http://www.patternsfromhistory.com/c.../cot_quilt.htm |

FYI Amazon does have the Farmer's Wife EQ Companion...I just ordered it.

O.k. I have to jump in on this one. I too have a large stash of CW repros. I've had a plan to do the Underground Railroad with some of them or else the Pioneer BOM that they posted to the board last year. I'm sure I have enough to do both of these and probably more.
Would anyone here be interested in maybe doing one of these as a group again? You wouldn't necessarily have to use C.W. prints but they certainly work well. I think I would be more like to dig into them if I were doing a project as a group. Muriel aka AkAngel |
I would mail them to Ragann63 at 5293 Madi.....lol!
|
Just skimming this post (will read it more in depth later).
If you don't want any of the C.W. reproductions, let me know. I will trade or pay you for them. I do 1860s reenacting so any reprints of the fabric come in handy for stuff. :) |
AkAngel,
tempting....but I have my hands full with the Jane Stickle group, mini swap, and various fabric swaps. I'll leave the latest sew along to you talented quilters. |

Farmer's Wife should be in a format like the Dear Jane software is...each block in that one is set up with options of traditional piecing, foundation piecing, and applique when needed. You decide which options work best for you and press print...viola! Instant pattern. You can adjust each block on the Jane software to a size you want or include other variations, too. I LOVE IT!
You do need EQ5 or 6 for this one. Dear Jane is a stand alone program. |
EQ6 has so many options, I don't even use a good portion of them yet. It's a design software that has a large library of blocks, fabrics, embroidery designs, etc. You can preview a quilt by picking a block and making it repeat, watch video instruction on the CD, utilize add on software that appeals to you (like the Farmer's Wife), easily print block patterns to your specifications and more.
