Hi - what a nice project to "need" to do - for a dgtr going off to college.

Guess my 1st question would be what are HER favorite colors & is she planning any type of "theme" in her room? She is the one who will be living w/the colors, design for the next 4 years.

As for my favorites - bright colors, especially w/yellow in it. Am just starting a sm. project w/batiks in the "sea" family of colors.

Good luck on what you pick & be sure to post a pic when you decide or it is done.

Have a blessed Easter - He Is Risen!!!

Deleted. Sorry for the repeats - when I hit Send, it took me to a page that said "Cannot find that address," so I didn't know if it was posting or not. :(

Bright colors are nice, but dorm rooms can get very cramped and cluttered, so eye-popping colors, while interesting and entertaining in themselves, might make for an unsettling dorm ambience. I would opt for softer, less visually demanding colors (blues, greens, yellows, with a little soft brown tones thrown in) - remember, it's a bedroom, as well as a study room, and is often the only respite from hectic campus life. It might be a good idea to take your daughter to a quilt shop and show her some possibilities of color combinations, and let her see what she likes best. Just watching how she reacts to the colors would give you a clue. Just my thought.

I love pink and turquoise but if I were making something for my daughter I would definitely ask her what colors she would like in the quilt and maybe have her pick out the fabrics herself (within my budget, of course). That way you won't be wondering if she likes your choices or not.

I love pinks, greens, browns and taupes. They make a beautiful quilt.
