With so many of today's mattresses being extra thick, I think the 120 would be wonderful. The last king I made was 116 square.

I wouldn't mind it. I could get a couple of twin and a couple of baby ones out of it if it was a nice fabric.

I have to add 8-10 inches for my long armer when she quilts. so I like the 118 inch when I can get it.

118" would give a longarm quilter a little extra, and that would be a good thing

I would love the 118 backing fabric, 108 is nice but I would love the extra 10 inches.

I make really big quilts because I want them to have a large drop on the sides. With the thick matresses we have now they need to be bigger.

118 may not be big enough to some of the quilts.

A LOT if you are doing king size quilts.....I like having a bit extra for queen size quilts too - as it allows my LAQ more flexibility (easier for her to load on her frame) when she has more extra fabric on the backing. My favorite LQS can't hardly keep the 115" and 118" backing in stock.

my last quilt was a king size 109 inch square and i would love to have done an extra row but din't want to add fabric to make it wider. I think it would be benificial. Then if anything you can use the extra for binding.

my frame is 12' long (wide?). i fit a 108" square quilt on it nicely with space on the sides to change and clean out the bobbin during the quilting. with the 108" backing i can get a 100" square quilt, although i only want about 96-98. that gives me good drop.

it seems to me that you need a 14' frame for a 118" backing. although i can extend my width to 140" by simply getting new poles, i don't know how many quilters have that.

have you had many requests for that width?

I like the idea of 118".. while my quilt may not be that wide, I can flip that and use it for the length of a quilt. Saves buying so many yards so that I don't have to cut and piece. if that makes sense to you..lol
