I am trying to design a queen size quilt that is a picture of one large yellow rose with a pink throat against a blurred green leaf background. The single bloom will be about 1/2 the size of the bed top. The quilt pieces will be 2" squares and I expect to have have about 30 colors of green, yellow, pink and cream. What catagory of quilt will this be? I am having some trouble with the design - am working from a beautiful photo of a rose. Those of you who have made one similar to this, would you please share your pictures? Or have ideas that could help on the design please share. Essentially I am trying to blow the photo up to bed size and reproduce it in cloth. Thanks

With Photoshop you can break up a photo into squares of color.
Cool project! Will love to see pictures of what you do. |
Thank you for the suggestions. Have you made these type of quilts?

I think it would fall under the category of art quilt. It is not a landscape, there isn't a back ground... Water color quilts are usually designed completely by using squares of fabric.
I can't wait to see it, loving the way you described it :D:D:D |
I've done it by hand on graph paper but it's very time consuming. Hope you share with us when it's finished.
