I would only pay $5 if I REALY liked the quilt. Since everyone has their own taste, I agree with those that feel you would earn more $ by selling them for a lower price. $3 for one and 2/$5 sounded good to me. Five for $10 would perhaps make them feel they were getting a bargain, but then accounting gets a little more complicated.
Good luck; hope the trip is both educational and enjoyable!

I know I just bought 6/$5 from the sr. cit. ctr. It was beautiful with appliqued heart and echo quilting. The raffle hasn't gone off yet. I have bought chances from them for years, figure it's about my time.lol

I agree.

In addition to my last response, we had a picture taken of the quilt on the tickets. everyone was so excited to see what they were buying a ticket for,and the response was so exciting to hear all the OMG its beautiful. We did a quilt by Toni Whitney, called 4EverFriends. It was stunning.

For a good cause and depending on the quilt I think 5 is ok. I have bought for that price before. Probably would sell more if a bit cheaper.

...NOT IN THIS ECONOMY

Yes I would. even if I didn't like the quilt (which would be highly unlikely. I could always gift it or donate it.
Best of luck to you!!!

I have paid $5 for a raffle ticket, unfortunatley they did call and tell me I had won. Was a beautiful quilt.

I think there are a few things you might need to consider. For example, there have been many discussions on the board about people not understanding or appreciating the value of a hand-made quilt. If you are not selling tickets to quilters exclusively, I think you might run into some trouble with the higher pricing.

Also, if you do use the higher pricing, it might be worth the trouble and expense of getting a written appraisal of the quilt from a certified appraiser. I did that and that was helpful in selling more tickets at the higher price. Non-quilters expecially will be more willing to pay $5 per ticket if they think they might win a quilt worth $750-1000.

Finally, the one time we did have $5 tickets, we sold them for a relatively short period of time. There was a sense of urgency in buying, plus people felt that they had a better chance of winning since fewer people would be buying tickets in the long run. We had played with the idea of limiting the number of tickets sold but decided against that. We wanted to see the reaction to the higher priced tickets.

When we have our next $5/ticket raffle, we have decided to limit the number of tickets and venues at which we sell them. We did have some complain about the price, but when they saw the certified appraisal, most of them bought tickets.

Whatever you do, good luck!

All the raffle tickets I have bought were $1 even at the
quilt show in Tacoma...they had 3 being raffled by different
groups....

For me, it would depend on the cause---and the quilt!
