Moda is by far my favorite although I do buy other fabrics if they catch my eye.

Irishlady 10-26-2010 12:36 PM

I like most good quality fabric, but, my three all time favourites are, Kaffe Fassett, Moda and Liberty.

I didn't either until I started going to another LQS. Seems to be the way the industry is run these days. That's why this shop owner is off to Quilt Market in Houston this week to get in on the new lines being put out. The reason I can say I have a fave is b/c I noticed that most of the batiks I was buying were Hoffman.

Kansas Troubles

When I found it just a few years ago I try (up, maybe until now with the economy) of getting 1/2 yard of each fabric.

May change though since things seeem to be getting worse.

No, she isn't new ... she designs for Moda Fabrics, she has for at least 5 or 6 years ... She's a popular interior designer, she has been doing home decor, fabrics & accessories for quite a while now. I haven't seen a fabric line of hers I didn't like! :)

Kaffe Fassett--I think I have some of just about everything he has ever done.

Alondra 10-31-2010 03:35 PM

Northcott fabrics are my hands-down favorite, but I also like much from Moda and Benartex (especially from Nancy Halvorsen). Also love Darlene Zimmermann's quilt designs.

My favorite designer above all others is Kaffee Fasset. But I love the Alexander Henry Co. a whole lot. Their designs are right up my alley. The others would be the Michael Miller Co. and Laura Heine is another favorite designer, however I haven't seen anything by her in a long time. Maybe she went out of the business. I like Moda a lot too.

Do you ever make anything out of his fabrics? I have a lot of them bought over time. I also have his quilt books. But I can't bear to cut the fabric. I just take it out and fondle it, then fold and reshelve it. I'm a little loony I think.

cctx. 11-07-2010 07:51 PM

My favorites:
Marcus/Aunt Grace, Moda/Fig Tree, Micheal Miller/Dick and Jane, RJR/Everything but the Kitchen sink, and most floral by manufacturers. I am not hard to please, if it looks pretty and colorful, I'll buy it. Batiks are pretty too, but just starting to collect them.

Jenny Beyer
Hiedi Grace for a change of pace, cute for kids things.

My first 'big' quilt was with Fairy Frost -- took 2-1/2 years -- I love it. I was lucky, one of the fabrics I used in it was a new one the year I started. There was manufacturing problems with it that I found in my fabric -- I was lucky -- caught it early, since I had decided to use it for the backing also. Found enough, it had been discontinued.

Still love the fabric and plan on more uses in the future.
