Probably an easy question
I almost feel embarrassed asking this, but there is a quilt pattern that is done using those square thin papers (about 10", I think). You use strips of fabric, sewing them all parallel, diagonally across the papers. When they are trimmed and arranged, it ends up looking a little like a log cabin if you use all dark fabrics on one side, then all light on the other side. What is this pattern called? I have questions about getting started on it. I am not sure if the center strip should be placed exactly point-to-point on the paper, or if the seam should be point-to-point, or what.... I just can't picture in my head how to get it started. TIA!

Yes, string piecing! I just asked about it last week and have now completed several blocks. It's really fun to do.
I want to make a string quilt and know nothing about making one
There are also more threads about this technique.

If I understand your question, the center strip is centered on the foundation. The stitching should be on either side of that diagonal, not on it. And, yes, string piecing. It's fun but don't count on seeing it diminish your supply of strings!! It's kinda like yeast in that it seems to be small but when you look back it has grown.

String piecing is so much fun so hope you can keep up making blocks. You will get a lot of advice from everyone on this board and they are so kind to help out. I bought some paper squares from MSQC when they had a free shipping day so I am anxious to try them.
