    Default Projector

Has anyone set up a projector for their cutting? I’ve seen bag makers making projector patterns and seems like there’s a lot around garment sewing. It looks really useful for clothing but I can see how it might be really good for collage or appliqué work too.

As a garment and bag maker I understand the projector but can’t see how it would be beneficial with quilting? Could you elaborate your intent to use it for either appliqué or collage. I guess my confusion comes from the fact that the projector for garments or bags is above the fabric you’re cutting, usually on the ceiling so how would it work for you?

I’m thinking you can project your collage picture, use a heat erase pen and draw right on the fabric then cut… or use a small rotary cutter and directly cut the fabric. I’m going to be trying it.

I'm imagining a document reader that projects any page onto a screen.

The projector can be projected on your cutting table (or floor if that’s what you use). If you search YouTube - projectors for sewing, you’ll find lots. There’s one called Ditto but they require a subscription which I won’t do.

I guess I'm just too free wheeling for this. I just cut out my collage pieces and play with them until I like the way they look.
