Do you buy from a LQS, a big chain or online??? I live wayyyyyyyyyyy out in the boonies and I have no LQS near me, the nearest fabric store (joanns) is 30 min away and our wally world here (still 30 min away) does not carry fabric. So in the end I buy online. I actually prefer to buy online so that I can take my time looking at fabrics etc..... For those that purchase online what are your favorite places to buy fabrics??

I just made my first purchase from Thousands of Bolts - and just one Nut - quality is great; prices were fabulous. Have also purchased from Connecting Threads.

My nearest JoAnn's is a little over 3 hours away. The closest LQS that I'll shop in is an hour away. My favorite LQS is 2 hours away.

There are probably thousands of online quilt shops!! I like thousandsofbolts.com and equilter.com. One for price the other for selection. And then there's Hancocks of Paducah and Keepsake Quilting that both send out catalogs filled with gorgeous fabrics. Oh and the fatquartershop has the best selection of precuts! And, and, and.

Just put "quilt fabric" in your favorite search engine and prepare to be overwhelmed with choices!

I usually order from Favorite fabrics.com or Equilters.

I usually buy only special fabrics, ones that I consider really unusual or ones that match hard to match colors on line and the on line store that I like best is equilter.com.
I think their prices are average and their selection is way above average. Their service is excellent! Occasionally I buy something on ebay, but usually that is sari fabric and trimmings from India.

I buy it everywhere I find a good deal! I do like to on-line shop because then I can find it for the best price. I am kind of hooked on my LQS right now, so not buying much at Joann's or Walmart. Joann's and Walmart's selections don't change often so I've already browsed and touched everything they have!

    My first stops are:
    Thousands of Bolts
    http://www.thousandsofbolts.com/index.cfm?&redirect=yes

    Quilt Fabric Closeouts
    http://www.quiltfabriccloseouts.com/

    Desperate Quilters
    http://www.desperatequilters.com/

    Over the Rainbow
    http://www.overrainbow.com/

    Stitch-n-Frame
    http://stitch-n-frame.net/

I've shopped many others also. If I'm looking for something in particular, I start at http://www.quiltshops.com/ and compare the prices on that particular fabric.

These are just a few. I've started a list of the ones I've tried and whether I like the service or not. You have to really check out the seller's on e-bay, but you can get some sweet deals there! I've been lucky with all my dealings so far.
