Several years ago I read about putting a pocket on the back of quilts to hold pieces of fabrics for repairing the quilt in the future. The fabric would have been washed with the quilt so repairs would not be so obvious. I thought this was a great idea.

Hand sew the pocket on after the quilting and binding are done. I'm a member of a quilt guild - we made a history quilt that we added pocket on the back to hold a write up of who made each block, etc. It worked out well!

This is the way I do my labels always and my hanging sleeves and pockets when I make them. I include a note and a book in the pocket on my grandchildren's quilt because I am not always going to be around to tell them I love them!

I made a couple T-shirt quilts and used a pocket from a shirt to add as a design feature on the front. Made it larger enough for a remote control or cell phone and it was near the top for easy access. Everyone thought it was great.
