I'm going on the hunt for those "other methods" plus try using the bias tape approach! When asked what type of quilt I was making (lap, etc.), I said it is a quilt for my cat Squeaky. Baby Peeps has one and Squeak is jealous!! :-) Given that we only made six blocks, I think Squeaky will be quite pleased.

And, for those of you who think cats don't know which blanky is theirs, guess again! :-) :-)

p.s., I should add that I am Rudy's "blanky"! The stinker doesn't need a quilt.

I took a class on QAYG. She used wash-away thread and bias maker, there was no hand sewing. Looks great when she does it. I personally havent gotten that far into my project.

I did a QAYG and machine stitched the sashing down with a fancy stitch on my machine. I did the binding with the same stitch ... no hand sewing at all.

there are plenty of QAYG projects that do not have any hand sewing what so ever, sounds like just the one method that shop likes. don't give up on the concept because one person told you you should hand stitch. Elenor burns has a great kids quilt called the 6-hour quilt that is a quilt as you go....when it's done it's done...no hand stitching whatsoever!

:| I thought I would be learning a new technique that would save time. Guess it does, to a point. But, hand sewing? They tell me to do it while watching tv. Nooooooo, that's my time for yarn work, computer games, etc. Ugh.

Okay, vent over. I feel better now that I've warned everyone. Spread the word. I'm relying on you! ;)
