I'm thinking of adding sashing to each of my blocks as I've already trimmed them and I'm afraid I'll lose all my points if I try to QAYQ by sewing them to each other. Do you know what I mean?

Did you frame each block or just do top and bottom and then attach strips along the sides, or do you have any tips for me?

I turn it over and join the second piece on the machine, turn it over and finish, sewing the back piece to new section. I have even done the quilt as you go with each block separately, sashing each and every one, but I won't do that again. I use quite small sections still. 3 or 4 10" blocks at a time.

There are different methods of QAYG on You Tube. I learn at least one new thing almost every time I watch one.

QuiltingHaven, I truly love this quilt and am anxious to make one like it. It is simply gorgeous. Do you have the pattern name for this? Also, is there a tutorial for the method you used? Thanks for any information you can supply. I doubt mine would be as lovely as yours, but I can just do my best. Love it, love it, love it!

I just carried the squares with a small tin with my sewing thread/needles/thread/scissors in a nice grocery freezer bag each time we went that year.

Default Pictues of the QAYG that I made going to NC

I have had some questions on exactly how I did this so I am attaching pictures that show how I made the blocks, put on the batting and the backing. Hope this answers the questions. The first one shows how I laid out the blocks together to get the pattern; the second shows how sandwiched the blocks together; the third show after they were hand quilted but before they were attached together; and the last one shows how I am putting them together block by block and then row by row. I machined sewed the backing together and then folded the top of the backing by folding over and hand sewing. Hope this helps.

QuiltingHaven, I never did thank you for posting all of your helpful information and photos. I am finally to the point I can attempt this beautiful quilt. Is the pattern name "30's Playtime?" I'm excited to try this QAYG method. Any more tips since your original post? Thanks so much!

kindleaddict63, thank you so much for this link. I don't have the time to view all her videos right now, but from reading the directions, and all the comments people have made, this may just be what I need. Thank you again!

Beautiful pics of qayg quilts! I honestly can't tell the difference on any of them..
I have several books on this method, and I've made a table runner using the qayg method.
I also have a lot of quilt blocks that need to be assembled into quilts, and I really want to give the qayg method a try.
    Regards all,
    Kif

I'm working on one right now! I've made it into three strips. The center is 3 blocks wide of a Mariner's Compass. I sandwiched each strip leaving extra batting on each strip to use for attaching. After the strips are quilted, they are attached. These strips are vertical, so the seams made by attaching the other strips, will just look like they were meant to be at the edges of the mattress & all the way down. I think it's going to look great!! I was extremely happy with the other one I did with the QAYG method!

Here's a link to a previously posted QAYG quilt of mine.

And this one, which I think turned out really nice. Different from what I usually do.
