    Default QAYG question

I've got rows sewn together and plan to QAYG on them. But should I add the borders now before I quilt them? Side borders would have to be in sections but top and bottom borders each would be a long piece.

Suggestions please as to what has worked best for you.

I've never done the QAYG with rows, only blocks but the premise should be the same. I would probably quilt my borders separately and then add them. Are you doing a sashing between the rows to join them? Can you post pics?

Thanks Debra. Yes I have the sashing sewn to the blocks already. I decided to add the borders after I quilt the rows. Seems best like you said. Sorry no pictures.

I have added borders after I finished my qayg. I think it was a you tube video. It worked very well.

I have done several QAYG quilts and have always added quilted borders at the end using the same attachment technique that was used in assembling the rest of the quilt.

This is the QAYG method I posted on the board. I add borders after the rows are stitched down.

I made a fun and done QAYG and you cut the backing larger than the front and fold it to the front to attach the blocks to each other. Easy to do.
Block ruler is 7 in and backing is 9 in.
Each strip of fabric is sewn onto the batting and backing fabric. Then the backing is sewn to the next block backing. Then folded to the front and sewn down.
