Qbees from MD, WV, and VA met this weekend in Harrisonburg, VA at the VA Quilt Museum which received us in the most delightfully friendly way. We saw the current collection of quilts from a Richmond, VA, area quilting group and the permanent collection of antique quilts, sewing machines, templates, and other memorabilia. It's a small museum but had beautiful works that inspired each of us. There was a handyman working there who joked and laughed with us and got us off to lunch on a hilarious footing! What a hoot, we wanted to take him to lunch!

Angela had made darling name tags for each of us, this after just returning from Switzerland just 4 days ago!! What a gal!

So we went to lunch at a local buffet restaurant where we stuffed ourselves on home cooking and too many wonderful desserts, laughed, chatted, and got to know each other for the first time. Then we held a fat quarter "Chinese" trade where one particular red fat and one green fat were fought over, changing hands a few times. Thanks to Tami's (mymsmess) generous dozen fat quarters contribution, we were able to play twice so everybody was happy with their spoils.

Then we held our show 'n' tell right at the table in the restaurant. Many other diners had left by this time of the afternoon, but several were quite interested in what we were doing and we noticed a table of staff workers eating their lunch right next to us so they could be entertained as well. :D

Then we went to Patchwork Plus Quilt Shop in Dayton, VA, just south of Harrisonburg, VA. This weekend happened to be the Tour de Quilt (shop hop) weekend for this part of VA, so the shop was pleasantly crowded and that encouraged purchases by all. They have great stuff in this large, well-lit, well-staffed shop, and Bernina sewing machines.

The photos below show each of those attending with at least one of their show and tell projects, except my mom (Anne in VA) who forgot hers, and Tami (mymsmess) who brought all those fat quarters instead. Yay for Tami! These ladies are pictured in the group shot.

Wow, thanks for sharing the photos with us and so happy you got to meet other quilt board members

I just love having meet and greets so much fun to meet other quilters, I have set up 5 so far in Indiana

We usually meet at a quilt shop, (reservations at a restaurant in private banquet room to visit, show and tell and demonstrations)

I wish more quilting board members would set up meet and greets in their areas and post the information on the offline section so we will know when and where they are so others can attend.

I have had quilters from the board travel up to 4 hours one way for our meet and greets. They come from other states also!

I have met over 59 quilting board members to date and plan on setting up more meet and greets in the future.

Would be fun to have a Christmas party meet and greet.
