I am half finished piecing a Grandmother's fan quilt using 1930's reproduction prints on an eggshell background and mulling over quilting designs. My creativity seems to have deserted me and I need help! Does anyone have ideas for handquilting designs and sources for the templates? The fans will be fairly simple, and I will probably just do cross-hatch for the background, but what has me stumped is a pretty design for the quarter circle (which is violet). My first thought for that area is "spokes" for the blades of the fans. Or simple echo outline quilting. Or a fleur de leis (sp?) type design.

In the center you might try echo quilting in curves. On the quilt I made I used extra batting behind the fans to give it a trapunto look
