Default Queen size bed + King size flannel sheet = design board

I know this idea has been posted before but warrents repeating for others....

I work full time and have a quilting house, not room, and quilting stuff is all over. Have a very small design board but useless for queen size quilts.

So I take a king size flannel sheet, laid it over my queen size bed, spread out the blocks...have to use 81...and keep flipping them around till I'm happy. Seems someone always needs to go to bed when I'm in the middle of designing, so I just fold and fold and fold the flannel sheet over "my work" and put it away till the next opportuity I have to "play". Then I unfold and walla...can pick up where I left off!

Makes for happy quilter and happy hubby!

Admin...have a feeling you may want to move this to a better forum.

I pinned a queen size flannel sheet to my wall. I've used it for about 8 years. its the best design wall.

I too have a sewing home. I sew in my kitchen/dining area have quilt projects all over. I have never tried the flannel sheet idea but I think I will. It is discouraging to just get your blocks laid out on the bed and then have to move them. I never get them back in the order they were in before I moved them for hubby to go to bed.

I like this idea, and think I will try it. I like to lay mine out on the bed. So far, it has encouraged me to finish as soon as possible to clear the bed. Folding up the flannel sheet will be better.

I do something similar. I use the king size bed in the guest room (son-in-law is 6'4"!) and spread out my quilt blocks. At least I don't have to put things away-unless we are having company.

I'm in the same boat .... house! What a great idea and I had never heard of this before. I have been laying mine out on my queen sized bed, then picking up, pinning and labeling, but somehow it NEVER looks the same when I lay it back out. This will be awesome; can't wait to layout my next quilt like this. Thanks for sharing this tip.
