I think that possibly the fabric that I received was batik patterns that were copied and then digitally printed rather than being actual batiks. Does that sound reasonable? No matter what the process was that was used to make the fabric, I don't care for them and will watch out for digital prints in the future and stay away from them unless I can touch them in person. Thanks to everyone for your comments and input.

I've purchased quite a few digital prints and never been disappointed in the fabric. I suspect what you encountered had nothing to do with digital printing, but with the fabric itself. Perhaps it will improve if you wash it to remove any sizing/chemicals/etc.

The fabric that I received was heavily designed with many colors, so the above information would explain the strange hand of my fabric. Thank you for the information.
