Hi everyone--I have a friend that has problems with her hands and would like to find information about Electric Scissors or Cordless Scissors. I cannot find anything for her and the last pair I had was probably 30 years ago. If anyone uses them, could you tell me what you think of them?

Singer makes one that I've seen in Joann's. Black and Decker also makes one.

I have these and really like them--I have arthritis in my ands and they are really helpful! I got them at Joann's or Hancocks but you can order them on line too!

I've never tried them. I have enough problems with regular ones. :-D

My Dad used to use them to cut paper and open his mail. I never tried them on fabric - maybe they make some just for fabric.

I don't use mine alot but they are very helpful when I cut large pieces of batting off the large roll--it just zips right across it with no effort. I have arthritis in my hands so using the scissors to cut that long piece is sometimes painful.

I have a pair of cordless electric scissors purchased many years ago. Unless they have changed dramatically (and looking at photos, it doesn't appear to me that they have), they are not accurate for cutting quilting pieces. They are useful for cutting large pieces of fabric and batting into smaller pieces, and for cutting up jeans, and I saw a very talented friend use them to quickly cut out patterns for baby clothes (by eye, no paper patterns!), but they simply are not very accurate. I think they could be used to cut pieces for paper-piecing, but not for regular piecing.

Also, when I used mine, I found it hard to get used to the vibration in my hand.

The Accququilt Go! is a good choice for people with hand or wrist problems, but it is relatively expensive even when purchased discounted.

I have a couple of pairs. They aren't fast enough for me. If you have trouble using regular scissors they should be better than hurting.
