Default Question about Elmer's School Glue

I saw Elmer's School Glue sticks at Big Lots the other day and wondered if you could use that instead of the liquid to glue bindings or whatever when quilting.

    Thanks.

You can very carefully. But when the glue is harder than normal or old it does tend to stretch the fabric. I would prefer to decant elmer from a large bottle into a bottle witha small hole.

I only use glue sticks because the liquid glue is not available here. Just make sure it is washable, and then dab it where you would use pins - it works perfectly. No fuss or mess!

The glue stick never worked for me. It wouldn't even stick and I had just bought it at Walmart.
I much prefer Elemer's washable school glue in a bottle.

I have used glue sticks for placing my first diamond shape on the paper for piecing my Spiderweb top and it worked well. I just used one swipe and removing the paper after piecing the block went well. I am using the Elmer's washable CLEAR glue for positioning my binding on a potholder today and it is working great. I will try to add a picture of it prepared but not sewn down.

I use the glue stick for binding only.

For matching seams, I use the glue stick. The liquid glue works great for basting. I use a very, very thin line of glue across the top edges of the batting and quilt top while loading them on top of the backing for longarm work. No need to machine baste, either.
