question about home decor fabric

I made a quilt out of 100% Scalamandre drapery fabric.
It was hard to hand quilt. I mean HARD, but it turned out nice and will not shrink or fade (I washed a piece).
It has a nice feel and is not too heavy or stiff.
The pattern was simple and the pieces large since the fabric has a very dense weave and large floral motif.
I would NOT do it again, though. My hands have not recovered...
If you machine quilt then I say go for it!

I have taken the swatches and made beach blankets from them. I cut huge squares, and piece them, then use an old mattress pad for the batting. This makes the blanket very thick and solid. It would be great to sit on for picnic too, or to use as cushioning when moving furniture!!!
