I am looking to buy a new machine. I found the Janome 1600P on-line. Does any one owe one and tell me what they think about it. I have a Juik 555 professional machine. The speed is not a problem. I want to know how well it sews and so of the pros and cons you have with them.

I have the 1600 DPX. I haven't used it much and, recently, I had to dismantle and store away the Grace frame it was on. However, a week ago, I put a heavy table -- just for quilting -- in my basement sewing room; I put the 1600 on the table and I ran it a bit and it works very well. (It always did sew well, except for a big thread nest I made once that took me hours to get rid of ... don't know the cause, but suspect operator error.) Anyhow, FYI, the feed dogs do not drop; you'll need the darning plate & foot to do free motion quilting. I bought my darning plate & foot as a packaged set.
